Another Round of Mold Litigation?
Another Round of Mold Litigation?
When a renowned institution of higher learning such as Harvard publishes a new study, people tend to take notice, especially lawyers. Such is the case with a newly released Harvard study in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine that indicates the combination of homes with high mold counts and individuals in those homes with certain genes have a higher risk of serious asthma attacks. According to the publication Indoor Environment Connection, which published portions of the study, trial lawyers are already buzzing about a connection between household contamination and specific health problems, such as asthma. One eye-opening statistic from the study indicated that 24% of the 5 to 12 year old children in the study with moderate to persistent asthma lived in residences with high mold counts. High mold counts were classified as having greater than 25,000 mold colonies per gram of household dust.
